Susan O'Malley Owns Washington Sports & Entertainment
The upcoming 22nd Annual National Business Aviation
Association (NBAA) Schedulers & Dispatchers (S&D)
Conference opening session will feature a host of motivational
speakers from inside and outside of the business aviation
industry.
Susan O'Malley, the first female president of a professional
sports franchise - Washington Sports and Entertainment - and NBAA
President and CEO Ed Bolen will deliver the keynote speech at
S&D2011, February 9-11 in Savannah International Trade &
Convention Center in Georgia. O'Malley, focusing on themes of
leadership and thriving in a tough business world, will share
anecdotes and lessons learned as a pioneering woman in
business.
"Schedulers and dispatchers share a common strength with Ms.
O'Malley, as they also have a reputation for putting the customer's
needs first," said Bolen. "I'm sure attendees will find many
similarities between running a sports franchise and running a
flight department. Her experiences are sure to be inspirational for
those attending the S&D Conference."
First an intern with the Washington Capitals and Bullets (now
the Wizards), O'Malley joined Washington Sports and Entertainment
in 1986 as director of advertising. She ascended to the top of the
organization due to her dedication to constantly improving customer
service, along with groundbreaking business ideas. As President of
Washington Sports and Entertainment, O'Malley oversees business
operations for the Washington Wizards and the WNBA's Washington
Mystics.
Bolen will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the
business aviation community, and emphasize the ways that anyone in
the industry can become advocates.
The opening of the exhibit hall will take place at 1015 EST,
following the opening general session. Unlike years past, there
will be no education sessions offered on Wednesday morning, a move
designed to give the more than 2,000 expected Attendees ample
opportunity to visit with more than 350 Exhibitors and product and
services providers.
