It almost seems like avionics were making more news than the aircraft at NBAA2014. ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, stops by Universal Avionics Systems to talk with Robert Clare, the Universal Avionics’ director of sales.
Clare said that Universal has been working on their new flight deck avionics for some time. As Clare explains the features of their new system, you can follow along in the video and see what it looks like while operating. The display and the operating format is stunning.
Clare explains that their system is highly integrated and is designed to function with systems already installed in aircraft. They foresee their new system as an ideal retrofit solution, but they are also looking to become an OEM provider. Certification for the system is being flown in a Citation VII so it looks like this may be where installations start.
Their system also provides wireless interconnect that allows crews to create flight plans on a portable device that can then be loaded into the onboard system. If you are at all interested in the bells and whistles new avionics provide, you need to watch this video.
