3rd Generation of UgCS SkyHub has arrived

SPH Engineering Announces Arrival Of Third Generation Of UgCS SkyHub

SPH Engineering releases the 3rd generation of its UgCS Skyhub system following five years of supporting a diverse range of ‘drone and sensor’ integrations for geophysical and hydrographic applications.

The UgCS is a self-contained computer aboard a UAV that supports the collection of data from sensors mounted on the drone. It organizes them in CSV or other compatible formats (with specialized software) for offline processing.

SPH stated that some current features of the UgCS Skyhub include allowing it to: maintain UAV flight via a mounted sensor also collect data from other sensors including those without an internal data logger.  In the process of taking measurements, two ‘travel modes’ are available based on the operating environment: 1) ‘true terrain following’ (TTF) which ensures constant elevation above surface using real-time data, and 2) the ‘grasshopper’ mode for flight between waypoints.

The UgCS Skyhub hardware supports with most popular commercial off the shelf (COTS) enterprise drones and platforms (check UgCS website for more information or device compatibility).  Furthermore, the Skyhub supports sensor integration from Ethernet, Bluetooth, and WiFi connections and draws power from the drone’s main battery. However, it does eliminate the need for a separate power source and circuitry.  You decide what tradeoffs best suits your needs or applications accordingly.
