Air Pix Shipping Selfie Camera Drone

Small Drone Company Raised $1.2 Million For Development

The developers of the Air Pix selfie drone are shipping the tiny aircraft after raising more than $1.2 million on Indiegogo.

The crowdfunding site shows the drone's status as "Shipping" after the company discovered what it described as a "small setback".

"While quality control testing the first AIR PIX off the mass production line we found a flaw in how the newly, more efficient propeller design attaches to the rotor. That’s the bad news.

"The good news is that WE ARE ON IT! Our engineers and production factory have found the solution that will deliver the quality and performance we demand and you, our backers, deserve.  AIR PIX will be back in our distribution center by September 26 with initial shipping beginning by the end of next week.  Tracking numbers will be issued via email as shipments are prepared," the company said.

The pocket-sized quadcopter has a 12 MP camera that will capture full HD video at 1920X1080p at 30 frames per second. It features a flying range of 60 feet, will fly autonomously, is smaller than an iPhone and weighs only 1.8 ounces, meaning no FAA registration is required to fly the drone.

The retail price of the Air Selfie Air Pix is $89.
