Sport Aviation Specialties Sets New ELSA Repairman Courses

Sport Aviation Specialties has announced the scheduling of three additional experimental light-sport aircraft (ELSA) repairman courses. The FAA-accepted 16-hour courses provide the required training for owners or would-be owners of fixed-wing ELSAs to be eligible for an FAA light-sport repairman certificate, thus authorizing them to perform their own annual condition inspections.

The new course dates and locations include:

  • February 18-19   Cushing Field (0C8), Sheridan, IL-65 miles SW of Chicago
  • March 18-19   Beloit, WI (44C), Beloit, WI-just across the border N of Rockford, IL
  • May 13-14  LaGrange Airport (3T5), LaGrange, TX-65 miles SE of Austin, TX

In addition, other courses are being planned in Indiana, Missouri, Georgia and other locations. Said Mike Huffman of Sport Aviation Specialties, "We plan to take the courses wherever there is enough interest to fill up a class. We had our first course in Tulsa in December and followed that with a second one in early January at out home base near Kansas City."

In addition to the fixed-wing courses, Sport Aviation Specialties is also developing a powered parachute course, with the first course tentatively scheduled for late April.

Aviation clubs or organizations interested in hosting a course at their location are invited to contact Sport Aviation Specialties.
