Avlite To Begin Production Of New Solar Helipad Light

Complete RF Lighting System Suited For A Variety Of Uses

Australian aviation lighting company Avlite is set to begin production of its newest solar-powered product, a solar powered LED helipad light it says is the only such system on the market.

This solar-powered, wirelessly controlled, completely self contained LED helipad light is the only one of its kind to meet ICAO Annex 14, TLOF (Touch Down, Lift-Off) Perimeter Lights and CAP 437 Offshore Helicopter Landing Areas, gaining international acceptance for its use on surface level helipads and elevated helidecks. Avlite’s helipad light and associated complete RF lighting system is suited to PPRs, Gas, Transport, Hospital, Emergency Sites, Official Use, Emergency Evacuation or Temporary Facilities.

“After a period of design and testing and subsequent certified industry compliance, we are excited to begin production of the long-awaited AVH-RF solar helipad light as it aims to provide a highly efficient, low-cost alternative to hard-wired heliport or helidecks lighting systems,” confirmed Chris Procter, CEO. “The AVH-RF comes ready for operation straight from the box. By simply bolting the light to the supplied frangible mount assembly, the light can be activated by the ON/OFF switch on the side of the unit – installation couldn’t be simpler,” he said.

Compared to expensive cabled alternatives, the AVH-RF has the lowest total cost of ownership over the lifetime of the installation due to its maintenance-free operation and its ability to be powered by the sun. With its single-LED technology and a LED life expectancy of 100,000 hours, the light is so efficient there is no need to change the globe - ever!

Without the need for mains power, the helipad light and in fact Avlite’s entire helipad lighting system including approach and obstruction lighting, can be used as either a permanent or temporary fixture. The AVH-RF can integrate with other wirelessly controlled helipad assets, is light weight and frangible, and can also be integrated with Pilot Activated Lighting Controls (PALC). The light itself is extremely low profile (less than 25cm in height), has a heli-lens optic and a user-replaceable 16Ah battery.

In the event of natural disaster where connection to mains power could be jeopardised or the establishment of emergency landing zones is required in remote regions or urban districts, the AVH-RF and its associated lighting system can be easily and efficiently deployed to assist EMS or SAR services, fulfilling safe passenger or patient handling and care and reducing flight safety risk during night time and all-weather operations.
