Lilium, Netjets Join Hands with FlightSafety

NetJets to Operate and Sell Lilium Jet to Clients, Use FlightSafety Training Systems

NetJets has announced its plans to add the Lilium Jet to its fleet, obtaining rights to purchase up to 150 of them under the firm's fractional ownership program.

Not content to just buy the aircraft, NetJets has gone the whole 9 yards and contracted with FlightSafety International to provide their training services and "mixed reality training devices" to support future Lilium Jet operations. In addition to an agreement to purchase and operate the Lilium Jet as a part of its aircraft network, NetJets will undertake private sales campaigns to their clientele as well, allowing individuals to purchase Lilium aircraft through the company as a distributor of sorts. There are few better advertisements for the manufacturer, of course, than to put their product front and center in front of their dream customers for a hands-on demonstration of just how much time an eVTOL aircraft can save them. The company bills the addition of the smaller aircraft to their bizjet fleet as an adjunct that will "complement NetJets owners' existing flight patterns." While private jet travel is quite fast and convenient, the terminal metropolitan areas of the world remain snarled in a tangle of traffic. For NetJets owners, the ability to land in an airport and hop into a Lilium jet to simply fly right over it all is the finishing touch on an end-to-end private aviation experience.

“This partnership is a major step in our mission to build radically better ways of moving and to electrify regional air travel," said Daniel Wiegand, Lilium CEO.

"We believe that the private and business professional segments will be highly attractive markets in the future and, likewise, early adopters of the eVTOL revolution. We couldn’t be happier to collaborate with NetJets and FlightSafety to electrify this market and hope to forge a long-term strategic partnership to bring high speed regional electric air mobility to the world.”

“Our focus on technology and adaptive learning will help prepare aviation professionals with the highest levels of expertise to support operation of the Lilium Jet,” said Brad Thress, President and CEO of FlightSafety International.

Adam Johnson, CEO of NetJets said: “We’re delighted to partner with Lilium’s experienced team to provide sustainable flight services to our customers. Lilium’s aircraft will expand our fleet options and provide our customers with a new and flexible means of private air travel.”
