Fourteen Inch Fuselage Stretch Confirmed
Last summer's surprising One Aviation announcement of a much refined new version of the Eclipse platform is coming together. While initial sales activity has been called 'encouraging' by One Aviation CEO, Alan Klapmeier, additional physical details are either being defined or confirmed as the program works toward building the initial flight test vehicle.
The initial aims for the airframe are being validated as the R&D team completes design development... including the requirement for 24% less runway (over the Eclipse 550) at sea level, ISA+25°C, 47% less time to climb to FL400 at ISA+10°C, 1400 nm at max speed cruise with NBAA IFR 100 reserves, an operational ceiling increase to FL430, the ability to cruise at 0.65 Mach, all the way up to FL430, significant improvements in all performance on high temp days, and an increased useful load allows for the carriage of carry 475 lbs. more payload over the same distance traveled as the current Eclipse.
Recent conversations have revealed that the aircraft will undergo a 14 inch fuselage stretch, but that a number of other announced parameters seem to be holding steady. ONE Aviation claims the CANADA airframe is designed to be an easy to operate, and will enhanced with the Garmin G3000 avionics suite -- which provides Synthetic vision, GFC 700 autopilot, Garmin ESP protection system, ADS-B and RVSM compliant, Full LNAV and VNAV functions, and much more.
ANN will be interviewing Alan Klapmeier and other One Aviation officials in order to get more details at the upcoming NBAA 2016 Convention.
