Department Maintains Manslaughter Charges Should Be Filed
Police in DeLand, FL announced this week the department is
recanting its earlier assertion that pilot William Buchmann was
racing skydiver Albert "Gus" Wing III (file photo, right) to the
ground when Buchmann's De Havilland DHC-6 collided in midair with
Wing. The April 23 accident claimed Wing's life, and caused
Buchmann's license to be suspended.
Hopes To Reconcile Agency's Current Needs With Future
Spurred by the hope that NASA can find a way to balance its
present needs in space with the agency's vision for the future, two
former Apollo astronauts and a former space shuttle astronaut
joined 22 other experts Tuesday in the first meeting of the newly
restructured NASA Advisory Council, a group of eminent US citizens

ANN Learns More About Cirrus Design's Acquisition Of SATSair
There was a big announcement at the AOPA Expo 2005 earlier this
month, involving an upstart Part-135 operation flying single-engine
IFR, and the company whose aircraft makes that possible. As was previously reported in
Aero-News, Cirrus Design made public its plans to
purchase Greenville, SC-based SATSair. This is news for a few
reasons, not the least of which is the nature of SATSAir's
Airbus SAS announced Tuesday that US Airways Group Inc. has
ordered 20 of its new A350 aircraft, fulfilling a promise the
airline made with the European consortium in exchange for Airbus's
help in completing the financing arrangements for the airline's
acquisition by America West Airlines.
In the face of possible UN sanctions and embargoes over its

Enhancements Should Save 200,000 Gallons Of Fuel Annually
Boeing told Aero-News Tuesday the company has delivered to Air
France the first Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) airplane that
includes enhancements that improve the overall fuel efficiency of
the 777-300ER by 1.4 percent. This amount is in addition to the 2
percent fuel-burn improvement already proven in revenue service by
the airlines that operate the 777-300ER.
