Some say a Light-Sport Aircraft may fly great as a training
aircraft, but can't possibly hold up to years of use by students
learning the art of flying. Flight Design recently received
documents they say proves the skeptics are wrong.
More than ten years after moving its float production abroad,
Zenair is now bringing back research and development (R&D) as
well as all production of its popular all-metal light aircraft
float kits and assemblies to North America. The company will begin
deliveries of the first straight and amphibious models this
October.
Brad Stiefvater of Salem, SD became the first customer to
complete and fly a Van's Aircraft RV-12 kit. On September 19, Brad
trailered his new white and blue airplane to the big runway at
Madison, SD (the RV-12 is designed for trailering, with
easy-to-remove wings), and after a satisfactory taxi test, he
flew.
