Patterson was to ride along Thursday during a mock "attack" over downtown Wellington in a restored Spitfire TR.9. Alas, the rare vintage aircraft was damaged Wednesday in a wheels-up landing... meaning it will not headline this weekend's Wings Over Wairarapa air show, though the exhibition will go on nevertheless.
