Jessica Cox, An Armless Pilot, Plans To Build Custom Airplane

Jessica Cox Is The World’s First Armless Pilot

Jessica Cox was born without arms and will soon begin building an airplane specifically designed for her to fly. Cox earned her Sport Pilot license in 2008 and received the Guinness World Record for being the first licensed armless pilot in history. Monday, Cox announced she will lead a team to construct a custom airplane to make it easier for her to fly. Cox hopes the new design will allow her to travel further to advance her advocacy for disability inclusion and mentorship for children with limb differences.

Initially introduced to North America at Airventure 2019, Curti continues to innovate their Zefhir helicopter as a major player in the light helicopter market. Powered by the PBS TS100 engine derated to 141 hp from 250 hp, the unit is capable of delivering rated horsepower up to 15000 feet msl while carrying 1322 lb max gross weight.

Carl Franz Wins the 2021 Tony Bingelis Award

Has Also Been Volunteering At The Builder’s Education Center Since 2003

The homebuilt aviation community is celebrating the many contributions of Carl Franz, EAA 511275 -- who is the 2021 recipient of the Tony Bingelis Award, after serving as a tech counselor for almost 20 years. Carl has also been volunteering at the Builder’s Education Center since 2003, where he is now the chairman. The Tony Bingelis Award recognizes EAA technical counselors for dedicated service and/or significant contributions in assisting members to build and restore aircraft. Through his years of service as a tech counselor, Carl has exemplified this idea, humbly serving his fellow aviators.
