Lycoming Updates Airventure 2012

UL91 Approved In Europe for Many Engines And Aircraft

Lycoming said at AirVenture Monday that the company is making substantial progress on certification of the series 233 Light Sport aircraft, and that ASTM certification to 2200 hours was complete. Michael Kraft, Senior Vice President and General Manager Lycoming Engines, said the most noteworthy feature is the Dual CDI spark ignition.

ICON Aircraft announced recently that its A5 light sport amphibian will use the Garmin aera 796 as its standard GPS system. The large-format touchscreen unit is Garmin’s flagship portable and was introduced to critical acclaim in September of 2011. The unit will be integrated at the top of the A5’s center stack with a plug-and-play custom-designed bracket, and will be removable for use outside the aircraft.

By Anthony Liberatore Monday morning at EAA's AirVenture, Jerry Melhaff Jr., vice president of engineering for American Champion Aircraft, officially unveiled the Xtreme Decathlon to the Oshkosh press corps. A Piece Of  Kitplane Aviation History Becomes Part Of EAA's Museum Collection

On Monday afternoon at Phillips 66 Plaza, The RV-1 designed and built by Dick VanGrunsven, which was the basis for the entire line of RV series of aircraft designs, was dedicated in a ceremony in front of hundreds of RV fans that assembled in the hot Wisconsin sun to see it transferred to its new home . . . the EAA  AirVenture Museum.
