NASA Successfully Tests Hypersonic Inflatable Heat Shield

It was a big opening day at AirVenture 2012. At a news conference early in the day, we were introduced to the new owner of Glasair, Chinese investor Mr. Fang Tieji. Mr. Fang has many business interests in China, including FBOs but Glasair is his first foray into aviation manufacturing. He and former owner Mikael Via said the airplane would continue to be produced in the U.S.

First American Woman In Space Succumbs To Pancreatic Cancer

Sally Ride, who became a household name after becoming the first American woman to fly in space, passed away Monday at the age of 61. Ride had been diagnosed 17 months ago with pancreatic cancer. In a news release, NASA officials described Sally Ride as a pioneer of a different sort in an agency filled with trailblazers.
