Pilot Steve Fossett has called off plans to launch the Virgin
Atlantic GlobalFlyer record attempt on February 25 due to a
forecast of unacceptable ground winds at Salina (Kansas) Municipal
Airport and turbulence during the flight's ascent. Both factors
present significant risks, Fossett said in a February 22 e-mail to
his mission control.
Ron Wagner, Manager, EAA Field Relations, will present a sport
pilot/light-sport aircraft briefing plus meet with EAA members at
the Montana State Aviation Conference in Butte, Montana, March 3-5.
His presentation is on Saturday morning, March 5th.
