First Flight: Australia's MH-60R Romeo Helicopter

Australian Government Has 24 Of Aircraft On Order From Sikorsky

Australia's Minister for Defense Materiel Dr Mike Kelly AM MP announced Tuesday that the first of 24 MH-60R Seahawk Romeo helicopters has successfully completed its first test flight. The initial test flight occurred at Sikorsky’s Production Facility in Connecticut on June 26. It passed a range of tests including controllability, engine performance, vibration analysis and navigation as well as the ‘Contractor Flight Acceptance’ phase.

The first of 15 new CH-147F Chinook helicopters was delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 21. The first CH-147F was accepted by the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, and will be followed by six additional aircraft over the remainder of 2013.
