Sikorsky Aircraft Developing Optionally Piloted Black Hawk
Demonstrator Helicopter
Sikorsky is collaborating with the U.S. Army to develop an
optionally piloted demonstrator Black Hawk helicopter, the company
announced Thursday from the Army Aviation Association of America
(AAAA) Annual Convention in Ft. Worth, TX.
Engineers Test ARAI: Automatic Receiver Aircraft
Identification
Engineers at the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air
Force Base are testing a system known as the Automatic Receiver
Aircraft Identification, or ARAI. Currently installed on a test
aerial refueler, if the tests are successful, Air Force officials
say the system will significantly improve air-to-air refueling.
Two Additional Test Aircraft Will Join Program Later This
Year
The first P-8A Poseidon test aircraft arrived at Naval Air
Station (NAS) Patuxent River, April 10. The aircraft, recently
assigned to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 20, arrived after
a six hour, 55 min. flight from Boeing's Seattle facilities.
Say Further Delays Put Our War Fighters In Jeopardy
Twelve members of the National Defense Trust (NDT) sent a letter
to President Barack Obama Wednesday expressing concern over the
ongoing delays and political maneuvering preventing the Air Force
from awarding the contract to build the next generation of aerial
refueling tankers.
