Two Autonomously Controlled EA-18G Growlers Put Through Their Paces

Tests have shown the ability of F/A-18 Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler pilots to remotely control fighter and attack platforms from the cockpit... Boeing and the U.S. Navy successfully flew two autonomously controlled EA-18G Growlers at Naval Air Station Patuxent River as unmanned air systems using a third Growler as a mission controller for the other two. The flights, conducted during the Navy Warfare Development Command’s annual fleet experiment (FLEX) exercises, proved the effectiveness of technology allowing F/A-18 Super Hornets and EA-18G Growlers to perform combat missions with unmanned systems.

DARPA Researchers Integrate Swarm Tactics And Human-Swarm Teaming Technologies In Third Field Experiment

In its third field experiment, DARPA’s OFFensive Swarm-Enabled Tactics (OFFSET) program deployed swarms of autonomous air and ground vehicles to demonstrate a raid in an urban area. The OFFSET program envisions swarms of up to 250 collaborative autonomous systems providing critical insights to small ground units in urban areas where limited sight lines and tight spaces can obscure hazards, as well as constrain mobility and communications.

The Air Force Shows Off B-21 Bomber Images

Three Images Show The B-21 In Different AFB's Around The Country

The veil of secrecy is lifting... at least a little bit, as the Air Force has authorized the release of artist renderings of a stealthy B-21 Raider concept in hangars at a number of Air Force bases. The images picture the B-21 in hangars at Dyess, Whiteman and Ellsworth AFBs and show some of the differences that are already becoming evident between the previous B-2 flying wing concept and the Next-Generation B-21 Raider. Four years ago, the USAF designated the next-generation bomber as the Raider in honor of the legendary Doolittle Raiders. The late Richard E. Cole, the last surviving Doolittle Raider, made the announcement in 2016.

Doc, One of Only Two Flying B-29s To Support Arsenal of Democracy Flyover

B-29 Doc, one of only two remaining B-29 Superfortresses still flying today, will participate in the 2020 Arsenal of Democracy Flyover in Washington, D.C., May 7-8, 2020. The event commemorates the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and will include more than 20 different types of vintage military aircraft. An estimated 100 World War II-era aircraft will fly in sequenced warbird formations representing the war’s major battles, from the Battle of Britain through the final air missions in Japan.
