We've been monitoring some truly heartbreaking reports about yet another tragedy that has struck our community. Apparently; some truly sick individuals have caused thousands of dollars of damage to two DC-3s with a historical pedigree. According to Cape Cod Airfield's Instagram site, "In these difficult times we at the airfield know that more people than usual are utilizing the trails in the conservation land. NTSB Prelim: Engine Troubles Force Bad Approach By Beech M35

Pilot Concluded That The Airplane Was "High And Fast"

On April 1, 2020, about 1340 central daylight time, a Beech M35, N9883R, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Sequin, Texas. The pilot and passenger sustained no injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to the pilot, after the initial power reduction after takeoff, he heard a continuous "loud exhaust popping" noise. The pilot decided to return to the airport and land. Once established and setup on the final approach for runway 14, the pilot concluded that the airplane was "high and fast" and there was insufficient altitude to perform any descending turns.
