The Hawk Has Been Part Of The Sport Aviation Landscape For Over 40 Years
When the CGS Hawk came on the sport aviation scene over 40 years ago, it literally transformed what was then the nascent ultralight industry. And over the years, the Hawk has grown from a single seat ultralight into a variety of two-seat sport, experimental, and light sport aircraft with a dizzying variety of configurations – with one mission in mind - seriously fun flying. Under new ownership, CGS owner Joe Shirley is cognizant of the legacy that he has been entrusted with, and is looking forward to not only continuing it, but improving upon it.
Minimum Obstruction Clearance Altitude (MOCA)
The lowest published altitude in effect between radio fixes on VOR airways, off-airway routes, or route segments which meets obstacle clearance requirements for the entire route segment and which assures acceptable navigational signal coverage only within 25 statute (22 nautical) miles of a VOR.
Aero Linx: ANGEL FLIGHT SOARS
Located at the Dekalb Peachtree Airport, ANGEL FLIGHT SOARS was formed by Jim Shafer in 1983 as a loosely organized group of volunteer pilots that helped out patients whenever possible. Due to increased media coverage in 1990, and an alliance with several other similar organizations (Air Care Alliance), ANGEL FLIGHT SOARS has taken off! Source: Flexjet Chairman Kenn Ricci, who is also a Smithsonian National Board member. Flexjet has announced a $1 million gift to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. The contribution will specifically support the new “Thomas W. Haas We All Fly” gallery, which will celebrate the joy of flying and the impact of general aviation.
