"We’ve held them at bay for a little while, and
if it’s not us next year, who is it going to
be?"
Source: Andy Millin, who each year arranges for
a temporary control tower from the FAA for the annual Western
Michigan Fly-In at Padgham Field in Allegan, MI. For the second
year in a row, organizers of the fly-in received static from the
FAA over the tower -- last year, an administrative snafu cancelled
their request, and this year the FAA said it would cost the group
$3,200 to have the tower for one day. Fortunately, both issues were
resolved, with the help of the EAA.
