GAMA praised the FAA for its notice of availability (NOA) for Accepted Means of Compliance to part 23 general aviation airworthiness requirements. These FAA accepted consensus standards will enable and encourage safety and innovation in general aviation airplanes and further developments in advanced air mobility (AAM) and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

More Facilities And Different Certifications Planned

After a year that they undoubtedly would rather forget, things are looking up for the Tamarack program. As a result, Tamarack Aerospace Group is expanding their local operations. The company has tripled their existing office space in addition to acquiring a third hangar in their facility complex. The recent expansion is part of a larger plan to accommodate continued growth for the Tamarack team as they expand R&D efforts with an eye to future applications and sales for their Active Winglet technology.

NATA, NBAA Seek Clarity on Excise Tax Exemptions From IRS

NATA and NBAA Requested Additional Modifications To The Regs

NATA has partnered with NBAA in submitting detailed comments on an NPRM regarding an industry-championed legislative exemption from federal excise taxes (FET) on aircraft management services paid for by aircraft owners. “We are encouraged by the IRS response to our request for clarification of the tax exemption for aircraft management services. This rulemaking represents another milestone in our successful campaign to ensure appropriate application and understanding of the tax laws,” stated NATA President and CEO Timothy Obitts.

AD: Piaggio Aero Industries S.p.A.

AD 2020-19-10 Describes The Unsafe Condition As Insufficient Sealing Of A Steering Select/Bypass Valve

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Piaggio Aero Industries S.p.A. Model P-180 airplanes. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as insufficient sealing of a steering select/bypass valve installed in the nose landing gear (NLG) manifold. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective November 3, 2020.
