A Boeing 747-200 freighter operated by Michigan-based Kalitta
Air crashed shortly after takeoff early Monday near Bogota,
Colombia, causing two deaths on the ground.
The largest US airlines' rate of on-time flights this past May
was higher than in both the same month last year and April 2008,
according to the Air Travel Consumer Report released today by the
US Department of Transportation (DOT). The rates of flight
cancellations and mishandled baggage also declined compared to the
same periods, according to the report.
MD80 Experienced Pitch Control Issues, Reports Say
A chartered Midwest Airlines MD80 transporting US Senator and
likely Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama made an
unscheduled stop in St. Louis, MO Monday, after the plane's flight
crew experienced "controllability issues" in pitch.
Officials with the FAA are trying to figure what, if anything,
impacted the nose of a Northwest Airlines plane at FL180 during a
Sunday flight from Detroit to Tampa.
Freight Feeder Aircraft Corporation, a US business 25% owned by
Utilicraft Aerospace Industries, announced Monday it has entered
into a Letter of Intent with British cargo carrier MK Airlines for
the purchase of 10 FF5000 Freight Feeder Aircraft, with an option
to purchase an additional five.
