EADS Socata is celebrating the 20th anniversary this month of
the first flight of its TBM 700, a fast turboprop single the
company notes opened a new era in business aviation.
Bombardier Aerospace welcomed last week's announcement that
Nord-Flyg of Eskilstuna, Sweden has launched a Q400 PF (Package
Freighter) program with two previously- owned aircraft, which will
be re-configured by Cascade Aerospace of Abbotsford, British
Columbia. Nord-Flyg said it had also signed a Letter of Intent to
acquire three additional Q400 PF aircraft from a third party.

Disaster was avoided in Germany Thursday after a quick-thinking
(and acting) pilot left the controls of his aircraft to untangle
the lines of a skydiver who had become entangled in the landing
gear after exiting the aircraft.

With the final days before the official start to EAA AirVenture
2008 counting down all too rapidly... and, not quickly enough...

Air National Guardsmen from 129th Rescue Wing launched a
search-and rescue-mission from Moffett Airfield the afternoon of
July 16 to save a fisherman experiencing a medical emergency aboard
a Canadian fishing boat off the coast of California.
At a signing ceremony this week during the Farnborough
International Airshow, Bristow Group and Eurocopter/American
Eurocopter announced Bristow has exercised its option to purchase
two more EC225 helicopters. These latest purchases will bring
Bristow’s ordered fleet of large EC225s to 15 by the end of
2011. Also during the ceremony, the companies announced the
purchase of three EC135 light twin-engine helicopters, plus the
option to purchase one additional light aircraft.
Aircraft crash sites are, in fact, places of historic
interest. For a brief period of time, these places became
hot-spots of activity, and nearly as much was learned from the
crash as from the flight testing itself.
An externally mounted fuel tank used on some military aircraft.
Fuel is used from the drop tank first, and then the entire tank can
be jettisoned from the aircraft to decrease weight and drag, while
improving maneuverability.
