The purpose of S.O.A.R. is to establish an organization
dedicated to restore, in flying condition, combat aircraft of all
countries, to exhibit such aircraft in air shows, and meets and to
maintain these aircraft as a tribute to our aviation heritage.
A type of compressor used in gas turbine engines in which the
air passes through the compressor in essentially a straight line,
parallel to the axis of the compressor. The compressor is made of a
number of stages of rotating compressor blades between stages of
stationary stator vanes. The compression ratio is determined by the
number of stages of compression.
