Now, Canada not only has spoken out, but has issued a NOTAM advising Canadian air operators and the owners of aircraft registered in Canada to avoid operating at any altitude within Belarusian airspace.

SMBC Aviation Capital Orders 14 Boeing 737 MAX Jets

SMBC Aviation Capital is ordering 14 additional 737-8 jets to grow its 737 MAX portfolio. The new order comes as airlines prepare for a robust return to air travel and modernize their narrowbody fleets to reduce fuel use and carbon emissions. "We are pleased to have concluded an agreement with Boeing for the purchase of 14 low-cost carrier configured 737 MAX aircraft which is an aircraft we are seeing increased customer demand for following its successful return to service," said Peter Barrett, CEO of SMBC Aviation Capital.

FAA Downgrades Mexican Safety Rating

Announces Results of Mexico’s Most Recent Safety Assessment

The FAA has announced that the Government of Mexico does not meet International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) safety standards. Based on a reassessment of Mexico’s civil aviation authority, the FAA has downgraded Mexico’s rating to Category 2 from Category 1. While the new rating allows Mexican air carriers to continue existing service to the United States, it prohibits any new service and routes. U.S. airlines will no longer be able to market and sell tickets with their names and designator codes on Mexican-operated flights. The FAA will increase its scrutiny of Mexican airline flights to the United States.
