Flyersrights.org, Aviation Consumer Action Project Say Battery Safety Not Yet Proven
Two air- passenger advocacy groups are demanding the U.S. government limit flights on Boeing's Dreamliner until the safety of its lithium-ion batteries is proven. FlyersRights.org and the Aviation Consumer Action Project are petitioning the FAA and the Department of Transportation (DOT) for a two hour limit from the nearest airport for the safety of passengers and crew.
Midland Instruments To Install Sandia Aerospace Devices Aboard Metro 2 Aircraft
Sandia Aerospace announced today that Midland Instruments, a full-service avionics system repair and maintenance company, has received Transport Canada STC approval for installation of Sandia’s SAC 7-35 to be integrated with Sandel ST3400 TAWS/RMI installations on M7 Aerospace SA226-T and SA226-TC Metro models.
Existing And Emerging Solutions Being Studied For Canadian Aviation
Airbus, Air Canada and BioFuelNet Canada, hosted by Montreal’s McGill University, have formed a partnership to assess Canadian solutions for the production of sustainable alternative jet fuels with the long term goal to supply Air Canada. The first assessment is expected by the end of 2013. The partnership was announced Monday at the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG) Aviation and Environment workshop in Montreal.
Virgin Atlantic Pilots Will Train With Norwegian Instructors For Dreamliner Operations
Norwegian Long Haul has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Virgin Atlantic that will enable Norwegian to tap into Virgin Atlantic’s expertise on long-haul operations, while Virgin Atlantic’s instructors will receive pilot training on board Norwegian’s brand new 787-8 Dreamliner. Norwegian’s first Dreamliner is due for delivery at the end of June.
