Job Cuts Begin In Fall, Will Continue Through September 2010

The first major round of layoffs tied to the September 2010 retirement of the space shuttle fleet was announced Friday. Lockheed Martin informed its Michoud Operations workforce employee reductions would begin in the fall of 2008 and continue through September 2010 as a result of the build-out of external tanks to support the planned fly-out of the Space Shuttle program.
