Launch May Be Delayed Several Days Due To Stormy Weather
As NASA starts the clock Wednesday towards Saturday's scheduled
launch of the space shuttle Discovery, a less-than-ideal weather
forecast may mean the orbiter will sit on the pad a little longer
than planned.
Representatives with Boeing told ANN Wednesday the company's
aerospace branch completed the first flight of a Delta IV rocket
from Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA Tuesday, with the successful
launch of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) satellite,
NROL-22. The launch is the first West Coast mission completed for
the US Air Force Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV)
program.
Supported Those Who Voted "No Go" For Saturday's Flight
In the latest development regarding the apparent rift between
NASA management and safety advocates concerning Saturday's planned launch of
the space shuttle Discovery, ANN learned Tuesday that
Chief Engineer -- and recent astronaut -- Charles Camarda has been
removed from his post as head of the mission management team
(MMT).
