Airborne 04.15.19: Stratolaunch!, SpaceIL Heartbreak, 1st Flt-Flaris 1

The gigantic Stratolaunch program, envisioned and spearheaded by the late Paul G. Allen, has successfully completed the first flight of the world’s largest all-composite aircraft. With a dual fuselage design and wingspan greater than the length of an American football field, the Stratolaunch aircraft took flight at 0658 PDT, Saturday,  from the Mojave Air & Space Port. Achieving a maximum speed of 189 miles per hour, the plane flew for 2.5 hours over the Mojave Desert at altitudes up to 17,000 feet. International Women’s Air & Space Museum To Host Rocket Day

Set For June 12, 2019

The International Women’s Air & Space Museum (IWASM) will host its annual Rocket Day on June 12, 2019 from noon to 3 p.m. IWASM will team up with the Great Lakes Science Center and NASA’s Glenn Research Center for an afternoon of fun learning about the science of rockets. Children will hear about the history of rockets, witness the launching of various rockets, and set off film canister rockets (weather permitting).
