One of our favorite taildraggers, the Aviat Husky, just got a makeover... Upgrades include the addition of a new trim system, replacing the previous bungee system. The elevator trim tab that reduces trim workload and system pressures and also increases control stick feedback. Competition Held For The Design Of An Orbiting Science Lab, Living Space for Astronauts On Mars Mission

Lockheed Martin is working on technologies that will make deep-space travel possible, such as building the spacecraft that will go to Mars. As part of its Generation Beyond K-12 science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education initiative, the company today announced the winners of a nationwide contest asking students to design a Mars-orbiting science lab and living space (or Mars Base Camp Habitation Module) that will dock with NASA's Orion deep space spacecraft.

HYLAS 4 Commercial Communications Satellite Launched

Launched Friday Aboard An Arianespace Rocket From French Guiana

The HYLAS 4 commercial communications Ka-band satellite, built by the company for Avanti Communications Group plc (Avanti), was successfully launched aboard an Arianespace rocket Friday. HYLAS 4 is the third GEOStar-3 satellite to be completed by Orbital ATK and will provide high speed and affordable broadband communications to Europe and Africa.

XPRIZE has announced a plan to continue the Lunar XPRIZE mission, with a re-launch of a new Lunar-focused competition. For now, the Lunar XPRIZE will operate as a non-cash competition. Over the next few months, XPRIZE will define new parameters for companies to compete in the prize. XPRIZE is seeking a new Title Sponsor for the Lunar XPRIZE competition, taking over for the support provided by Google during the past decade.
