The National Space Society (NSS) announced Tuesday famed
aircraft and spacecraft designer Burt Rutan will receive the
Heinlein award for lifetime achievement in aerospace. The award,
which is given out every two years, will be bestowed upon Rutan by
CNN correspondent Miles O'Brien at the Gala dinner of the 27th
Annual International Space Development Conference (ISDC) taking
place at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington DC on Friday, May
30, 2008.
NASA announced Tuesday it will extend the international
Cassini-Huygens mission by two years, giving the historic
spacecraft more time to continue its stunning discoveries and
images that NASA says have revolutionized mankind's knowledge of
Saturn and its moons.
On Tuesday, the American Institute of Aeronautics and
Astronautics (AIAA) announced the results of its 2008 Board of
Directors election. The newly elected board members will begin
their term of office on May 15. Incoming President George K.
Muellner will be succeeded next year by President-Elect David W.
Thompson.
