C2O Puts The Call Out For Cessna Pilots

They Want YOU!

Do you own or fly a Cessna aircraft -- ANY Cessna aircraft? And are you planning on attending the festivities at this year's AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI? Then C2O -- Cessnas "2" Oshkosh, of course -- wants you to join them for this year's mass arrival at Wittman Field, scheduled for Saturday, July 22.

Representatives with C20 told ANN Wednesday that events will be scheduled throughout the week, starting with a meeting Friday, July 21 at Dodge County Airport (UNU) in Juneau, WI. Upon arrival, there will be a welcome packet put together by the C2O staff that will include information about the event, as well as information packets provided by the group's sponsors.

Saturday will kick off with events at the airport to include lunch provided by the Cessna Flyer Association and a briefing for the mass arrival at Oshkosh later that day. Following the mass arrival, the group will have a debrief -- followed with everyone firing up their gas powered blenders in the "Cessna Base Camp" in the North 40.

As this will be the first year the EAA will have reserved camping space in the North 40, C20 will have up to 500 camping slots available in the base camp. Those interested in reserving a spot must sign up on the C2O website -- available at the FMI link below -- in order to get into the Cessna Camping area.

Participants will not only be able to revel with their fellow Cessna pilots, but they'll eat pretty well, too. Highlights of the week will include a free BBQ on Sunday provided by Cessna in the "Cessna Base Camp." On Tuesday, July 25, the Cessna Pilots Association is having another BBQ -- followed by a third on Wednesday, this one catered and put on by C2O. Hmmm...  barbeque.

C20 will also be giving away door prizes from their 25+ sponsors, including items such as a UBG-16 engine monitor and fuel flow monitor from Electronics International (EI). And... in case you haven't had enough... there will be  fourth BBQ at the Hilton on Friday, put on by the Cessna Pilots Association.

Of course, this year marks a special anniversary for Cessna... and the group will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Cessna 172 and 182 by letting 50 owners of those aircraft types to fly in as the first groups. That doesn't mean C120, C170 or C206 owners (or, for that matter, C421 twin pilots and C500 jet jockeys) can't share in the celebration -- but they'll fly with the second group of 50.

Yes, that's only 100 planes for the mass arrival... but while C20 must limit the number of planes flying in as a group due to logistics, everyone is encouraged to sign up -- even if it's for an alternate position (alternates fill in if other slot holders drop out.) In fact, C2O wants as many Cessna owners as possible to participate -- but slots are limited, so those eager to join the gang are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.
