There used to be a time when learning to fly a radio controlled model airplane was a trial and error process. Unfortunately, the error part of that process often meant the creation of a “smoking hole.” Now, things have changed, and ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, took the opportunity at eFest 2015 to find out about RC aircraft automatic stabilization.
In Jim’s interview with Len Sabato, the Managing Director of JR Americas, we learn about this great feature being provided for new RC equipment. Sabato introduces us a system called Axis, which is a 3 axis system that makes the model easier to fly.
The system is adaptable to any 3 axis RC airplane and increases the stability to the point that the pilot can relax. Much like modern fighter jets and airliners, the pilot imports are carefully monitored by computers that actually control airplane. It certainly seems futuristic to find this same technology being applied to RC model aircraft.
