Be On The "Frontlines" Of The War Against Terrorism
The Transportation
Security Administration announced Monday it is looking for
candidates in the Denver, CO area to work as part-time
Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) at Denver International
Airport.
The TSA recently launched a local hiring initiative that
replaces the previous Washington, D.C.-based system, allowing the
agency to quickly hire new screeners... as well as replace others leaving their
positions.
"We're looking for qualified, dependable individuals who want to
work on the frontlines on the war against terrorism," said Patrick
Ahlstrom, TSA's Federal Security Director at DIA. "These jobs are
critically important to ensuring the safety of all passengers who
fly out of Denver."
Salaries start at $13.50 an hour, which includes locality pay
(working 35 hours a week, that works out to about $24K a year). All
employees are eligible for health and life insurance, retirement,
paid vacation and sick leave. Interested employees in the Denver
area will also be provided -- free of charge -- an Eco Pass for
unlimited travel on the local public transportation system.
By law, all candidates must meet the following minimum
requirements:
- US citizen, or US
National with proficiency in English
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent or at least one full
year of applicable work experience
- Customer service, honesty, integrity and dependability
- Physical ability to repeatedly lift and carry baggage weighing
at least 70 pounds
- Mental ability to observe and identify objects
- Pass a background investigation, including a criminal check,
financial suitability and pre-employment drug screening
- Visual, auditory and physical standards necessary to prevent
threats from getting on-board aircraft
