Flight Attendant Had Passenger's iPad In The Bag

Denies Stealing The Device, But She Was Arrested For The Theft

We’ve heard it before – there’s an app for that. But one flight attendant probably wishes it wasn't true. Wendy Ronelle Dye, 43, a flight attendant for Horizon Air, was arrested in Oregon City, OR, on Friday evening for the theft of a passenger's iPad.

A Nevada man left the iPad on a recent flight where another passenger reportedly found it and turned it over to flight attendant Dye. Unfortunately for Ms. Dye, the iPad’s owner had only recently downloaded the app, Find My iPad. When he activated the app it led police to Ms. Dye’s home in Oregon.

KSEE- TV reports that when she was first interviewed by the Clackamas County, OR, Sheriff's department, Dye claimed not to have used the iPad, saying she placed it in a personal bag and had forgotten about it. But, an examination of the iPad found some of her personal information loaded on it, including a reminder of her husband’s upcoming birthday.

The iPad is now being returned to it owner in Reno, Nevada, who said he had downloaded the tracer app on September 11 just before a flight to Los Angeles. He said he had pretty much forgotten it was even available until he activated it on Wednesday.  Meanwhile, odds are Mr. Dye is not going to enjoy the happy birthday he had hoped for.
