Enstrom Helicopters Goes 'Back To Basics' With New Clinic

A Good Pilot Is Always Learning!

Enstrom Helicopter Corp has announced the ongoing development of a "Back-To-Basics" refresher course for helicopter pilots, in conjunction with Sharkey Helicopters Inc. of Lebanon, NH. The program will build off a successful December 2004 program run by the companies, supported by Air Sure Limited and AIG Insurance, that emphasized accident avoidance.

While that program was taught utilizing Enstrom's turbine-powered 480 series, the new course will be geared towards the piston fleet. The companies stress that the "Back-To-Basics" lessons taught at the clinic would apply to all helicopters.

The program will explore the physiological factors that can contribute to accidents and their relationship to the series of events that lead up to a helicopter accident, according to an Enstrom press release. The series will also address basic flying skills that may have been forgotten by pilots throughout years of flying.

Enstrom has manufactured helicopters since 1959. Sharkey's Helicopters, the oldest Enstrom dealer in the world, first began operations in 1973.
