NBAA Names Winners Of 2016 Baldwin Business Aviation Management Scholarships

Awards Promote Professional Development In Business Aviation

The NBAA today announced the recipients of its Donald A. Baldwin Sr. Business Aviation Management Scholarships, which benefit individuals seeking to become NBAA Certified Aviation Managers (CAMs). The scholarships, which are given annually in coordination with the family of Donald A. Baldwin Sr., promote professional development in business aviation by providing financial support for qualified CAM exam candidates.

The 2016 recipients are:

Shelbey Hooker: Hooker has a bachelor’s degree in professional aeronautics, and her commercial and instrument airplane and rotorcraft ratings from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She left Cutter Aviation for a short time to fly Predator UAVs in the Middle East before returning to Cutter as the HondaJet Southwest customer relations manager. “CAM will add a certification to my portfolio that will give customers confidence that they will receive the service they should expect from a professional,” she said. She is an active member of the Arizona Business Aviation Association.

Wendy Ulrich: Formerly a tax accountant, Ulrich is currently chief financial officer for Air Services, Inc. She is a certified public accountant, and has a master’s degree in accountancy and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Michigan University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. “My goal is to become a strong team player as an aircraft manager by providing realistic budgets, flight data analysis and efficient flight coordination,” said Ulrich. “I am passionate about business aviation.”
The scholarship is named for Donald A. Baldwin Sr., an accomplished business aviation pilot who served on NBAA's Board of Directors from 1968 to 1971. In his lifetime, he was recognized for his contributions to business aviation by receiving the NBAA John P. "Jack" Doswell Award and the Flight Safety Foundation Business Aviation Meritorious Service Award.

The Baldwin scholarships are being awarded at NBAA's 2016 Leadership Conference, taking place through Feb. 24, in San Antonio, TX. Learn more about NBAA’s Leadership Conference.

The Baldwin Business Aviation Management Scholarship is one of several scholarships offered by NBAA to promote professional development and business aviation careers.

NBAA's CAM program identifies qualified professionals to lead flight departments and companies that use business aircraft. The CAM exam is available throughout the year in a computer-based testing format. To be eligible for the exam, participants must be pre-qualified and approved through a formal application process.
