Ansett Aviation Announces Pilot Scholarships

Australian Training Operator Builds Up Locals With Educational Assistance

Ansett Aviation Training, as part of its educational motto of “Assisting the future pilots of regional Australia," is once again accepting scholarship applications for its 2024 round.

The lucky recipients will be given an endorsement course on Ansett's Beechcraft Super King Air B200, setting them up for success among a raft of outback operators. The King Air remains a popular fixture of the far-flung settlements ringing Australia's harsh wilderness, a vital lifeline for food, medicine, and travel just like it is in any other rough n' tumble locale.

Ansett's training course will put two students through a totally free 12-day training regimen, culminating in a final check ride upon course completion. The course will include the requisite King Air time, padded out with classroom sessions to learn and master systems, and plenty of sim time to get things nailed down virtually before they take to the skies for real.

Ansett Aviation is accepting applications through their website, but time is limited: Would-be students have until the 8th of March, 2024 to complete their paperwork. While Ansett will provide accommodation for the duration of the course, recipients will be responsible for their own travel arrangements. Still, that’s not too bad as far as type ratings go - there aren’t too many being handed out for the sweet price of free. Applicants must hold an instrument rating, an Aussie CPL or ATPL, a completed PXS/GTE Theory exam, affiliation with Ansett or the Regional Australian Aviation Association, and at least 1,000 hours total time.
