ACSS Teams With CAAC, Juneyao Airlines And Airbus For The Demonstration
The first successful ADS-B In jetliner flight demonstration has been conducted in China. ACSS, an L3 and Thales Company, said the demonstrations were performed on three A321 aircraft on approach to Shanghai’s Hongqiao International Airport and were conducted in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC); Juneyao Airlines, a Shanghai-based commercial and cargo carrier; and Airbus. The Air Traffic Situational Awareness (ATSA) Enhanced Visual Separation on Approach (VSA) ADS-B In application was hosted on ACSS’s T3CAS Integrated Surveillance System and seamlessly integrated into the cockpit displays.
“We are pleased to collaborate with the CAAC, Juneyao Airlines and Airbus on this ADS-B In demonstration to enhance aviation safety and efficiency in China,” said Terry Flaishans, President of ACSS. “These important applications play an integral role in effective operations and complement communication, navigation, surveillance, air traffic management modernization and ADS-B initiatives in China and around the world.”
ACSS ADS-B solutions, including the T3CAS system, offer increased safety and efficiency in flight and on the ground, and enable timely compliance with worldwide ADS-B mandates. The T3CAS system’s ability to host ACSS’s ADS-B In applications enhances operator efficiency, as well as pilot and air traffic management situational awareness and decision making in all phases of flight, including flight-level change performance in Non-Radar Airspace (NRA), such as oceanic flights.
The T3CAS is a Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) that can host any combination of Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS) and Mode S Transponder with ADS-B In/Out capability. The system combines multiple products into a single 4- or 6-Modular Concept Unit (MCU) LRU that reduces size, weight, wiring requirements and power consumption.
