Cessna 150-152 Fly-In Just Over Two Weeks Away

Event To Be Held At KCWI In Clinton, IA

It's happening during Oshkosh, which may be why you haven't heard a lot about it ... but July 30 through August 1, the 14th annual "Confab in the Corn" will be held at Clinton Municipal Airport (KCWI) in Clinton, IA.

The event is a fly-in for Cessna 150-152 airplanes. The event's organizers say that each summer "over 100 airplanes gather in the heartland of America from all over the country for flying contests, socializing, and to learn more about these wonderful airplanes. The Cessna 150-152 Fly-In is open to owners, pilots, or really anyone with an interest in one of the most popular and best-loved general aviation airplanes."

The event features flying skills challenges like spot landings and a "Nerf Drop." In that contest  "each aircraft has three Nerf Delivery Units. The pilot guides the aircraft to a point no lower than 200 feet AGL, where the Nerf Delivery Specialist releases the Nerf in an attempt to drop it in a barrel. Credit is given on a declining scale the farther away from the target the Nerf lands. Highest score wins!"

There are also seminars focused on all aspects of this popular two-place airplane.

The Fly-In began as an impromptu event in 2001, with a group of 150-152 pilots and others, meeting in Clinton, Iowa to discuss issues and items relating to their airplanes. Over the next few years, the event grew as the word got out. In 2005, and ensuing years, spurred by reports of the fun an ever-growing list of enthusiastic and diverse members, the Fly-In, sponsored by the Cessna 150-152 Club took on a life and synergy of it's own.
