Brilliant, With a Great
Track Record and Total Command of Maintenance Issues -- What More
Could You Want?
The Professional Aviation Maintenance Association (PAMA) asks
for the support of the aviation industry to encourage the National
Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to reappoint the Honorable John
J. Goglia. There are few people in aviation maintenance
-– or in the entire aviation industry, for that matter
-– who do not know the name John Goglia. His name is
synonymous with the pursuit of aviation professionalism and safety.
He is a two-term Member of the NTSB with a broad technical grasp
unmatched by any of the NTSB’s other four members. Mr.
Goglia's influence and credibility has elevated the aviation
maintenance profession in a way that no one else has.
In 1995, Mr. Goglia became the first A&P to be appointed to
the NTSB. On December 31, 2003, his second term will expire. He is
eligible for reappointment, and to give him the best chance
possible, PAMA is asking aviation professionals to become
personally involved by impressing upon President Bush the
importance of Mr. Goglia's work for safety, his commitment to
excellence, and his respect for the men and women who keep
America’s aircraft aloft.
Over the past 10 years, aviation maintenance issues have grabbed
more headlines than in all of the first 90 years of powered flight.
In many cases, Mr. Goglia has been at the heart of the matter. He
chaired the NTSB’s public hearings on the ValuJet crash and
has been warning the industry that maintenance issues should earn a
larger share of the aviation industry’s investment in
safety.
Mr. Goglia has never
shied away from standing up for the maintenance community. PAMA is
calling on the community to now stand up for him. Membership on the
NTSB is by Presidential appointment with confirmation by the U.S.
Senate. PAMA encourages a show of support for the reappointment by
emailing both Senators in your resident state. Those email
addresses can be found on line.
