ERAU Student-Pilot To Audition For ‘The Voice’

Aeronautics Senior Peter Codrington Will Travel To California In February For A Chance At Stardom

Aeronautics senior Peter Codrington is used to singing in front of a crowd — he has been performing the National Anthem to kick off Eagles basketball games all season — but next month, he is looking to entertain a much larger fan base, when he travels to California to audition for Season 17 of NBC’s “The Voice.”

“This is a tremendous opportunity in my life,” he said, “I have worked extremely hard on my voice to make it distinctive … (and) I never thought that I would be given this chance.”

Codrington, 20 years old, was born and raised in the Commonwealth of Dominica. Now a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Daytona Beach Campus, his “number-one goal,” he says, is to become a commercial airline pilot after graduation, or to continue on to a graduate program. Singing, though, has always been his other passion. At his audition, he will perform Christina Aguilera’s “Hurt,” as well as “Jar of Hearts” by Christina Perry. If he makes it as far as the blind audition, he will perform Sam Smith’s “Writing on the Wall.”

“Please keep me in your prayers,” Codrington asked of his fellow students. “I am so excited and so nervous at the same time! I would love the support from the school to boost me on this awesome journey.”
