Missile Misses US Plane In Iraq

Multiple Sorties Just Before Rummy Shows Up

Guerrillas at the international airport in Baghdad Saturday fired "multiple missiles," which missed an Air Force C-141 Starlifter (picture, right: No, it's not a C-141, it's a P-3. But look at the pretty flares...). Military officials say the missiles were fired just hours before Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, was supposed to fly out of the airport on his way back to Washington (DC) from Iraq.

Missile shot score card: No damage, no injuries, according to the military in Baghdad.

It was the third known ground-to-air missile incident in Iraq since President Bush declared major fighting in Iraq to be over on May 1st.
