EASA Certifies IFD Series GPS/FMS Systems In Robin Aircraft

STC Granted To Airplus Maintenance Of Friedrichshafen, Germany For Installation Of Avidyne IFD550, IFD540, And IFD440 Systems

Avidyne has announced that German-based airplus Maintenance GmbH has received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for installation of the Avidyne IFD5XX/4XX series of GPS-based flight management systems in 200-, 300- and 400-series Robin aircraft. This STC provides IFR LPV and LNAV + V approval for single- and dual-IFD installations in 40 different models and derivatives of the French-manufactured Robin range of aircraft.

“Avidyne’s IFD series FMS/GPS systems are incredibly capable and easy to use, and we see the fleet of Robin aircraft—which are very popular throughout Europe—as a great target market for their capabilities,” said Florian Kindzorra, Chief Operating Officer for airplus.  “Avidyne makes great products and we look forward to working with them on certifying and installing their products in other aircraft models as well.”

“We are delighted to have airplus as a certification partner and dealer for the IFD Series,” said Steve Gubbins, Avidyne’s Director of European Sales.  “Through their expertise, we have a wide-reaching STC that allows owners of these highly popular Robin aircraft to take advantage all of the benefits of the Avidyne IFD systems, including LPV and LNAV+V approaches, Synthetic Vision, and wireless connectivity.”

Avidyne IFD4XX systems start at $9,499. IFD5XX systems start at $14,999.
