GD Appoints Flynn As Aerospace Group Executive Of Gulfstream

Joseph Lombardo Is Retiring In June

There will be some changes soon in the executive offices at Gulfstream. General Dynamics has announced that Larry R. Flynn, president of Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., will succeed Joseph T. Lombardo as executive vice president of the corporation's Aerospace group when Lombardo retires in June. Mark L. Burns, president of Product Support for Gulfstream, will succeed Flynn as president of Gulfstream. In addition, M. Amy Gilliland, vice president, Human Resources, will succeed Walter M. Oliver as General Dynamics' senior vice president, Human Resources and Administration, when Oliver retires in March. The Flynn and Burns appointments are effective July 1, 2015, and the Gilliland appointment is effective April 1, 2015.

"We are pleased to welcome Larry Flynn (pictured), Mark Burns and Amy Gilliland to their new leadership roles," said Phebe N. Novakovic, chairman and chief executive officer. "Larry has a broad base of business aviation experience and I am confident he will continue to enhance the company's position as a global leader in the business-jet market in our Aerospace group. With Mark's experience leading Gulfstream's service and support organization, he will ensure that Gulfstream continues to exceed customer expectations in performance, quality and safety. Amy has established herself as a key member of our leadership team and her experience and intellect will serve the company well in this increasingly complex global business environment.

"We are grateful to both Joe Lombardo and Walt Oliver for their many years of service. Joe has played an instrumental role in the success of the Aerospace group and he has been a valued member of the team. We will miss Walt's wise counsel and utmost professionalism as he retires," Novakovic said.

As executive vice president for the Aerospace group, Flynn will be responsible for Gulfstream and Jet Aviation.

Flynn, 63, was named president of Gulfstream in August 2011, and a vice president of the corporation in October 2001. Previously, he was senior vice president of Marketing and Sales from 2008 to 2011, and before that, president of Product Support from 2002 to 2008. Prior to joining Gulfstream in 1995, Flynn was vice president, Location Based Services, for Stevens Aviation, a regional vice president for Signature Flight Support, and an executive vice president and general manager for AMR Combs. Flynn earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in manpower management from the University of Kansas.

Burns, 55, was named president of Product Support in June 2008, responsible for Gulfstream's worldwide service and customer support network. He became a vice president of General Dynamics in February 2014. Prior to being named Product Support president, Burns was the vice president of Customer Support for six years and vice president of Completions Engineering for two years. He joined Gulfstream in 1983. Burns earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Georgia Southern University.

In her new position, Gilliland will report to Phebe N. Novakovic, chairman and chief executive officer.

Gilliland, 40, was appointed vice president of General Dynamics in February 2014. She is currently responsible for the company's executive compensation and ethics programs. She also oversees employee engagement, employment compliance, community engagement and administrative functions at the company's corporate headquarters. Gilliland was staff vice president of strategic planning from 2012 to 2013. Prior to this, she was the staff vice president of investor relations from 2008 to 2012, and director of strategic planning from 2005 to 2008. Prior to joining the company in 2005, Gilliland served in the U.S. Navy. Gilliland earned a bachelor's degree with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy, a master's degree from Cambridge University, England, and a master's degree in business administration from Georgetown University.
