Hopes To Promote Growth Of 'Medical Tourism' In The Region
China's largest air medical service business announced at ABACE that it plans to establish China's largest air medical base in Shanghai serving domestic and foreign patients. Lu Haikuan, Chairman & CEO of Deer Jet Medical, said the plan is an effort to promote the growth of the local medical tourism to be among the nation's top international service portals.
In the government's 13th Five-Year Plan, Shanghai is committed to transforming itself into one of Asia's medical centers which is enormously attractive to those in need and the providers at home and abroad. "We picked Shanghai as our largest air medical base not only for its significant position at the Yangtze delta, but also for the edge of medical service resources and huge potential for developing medical tourism," explained Mr. Lu on the operating base layout according to DJM's growth plan.
"Every year, on our service list are foreigners and proportionally large number of Chinese residents who are escorted home for care due to sickness and accidents abroad, and need safe air medical care and succeeding treatment. This can be regarded as a 'reverse' medical tourism."
DJM's Shanghai base is home to Hawker 800 jets and crews, as well as the company's G450 and G550 aircraft and large models for mass evacuation such as Boeing business jets.
As the first Chinese emergency medical and special care service provider to operate on established international air medical standards and protocols, Deer Jet Medical offers standardized, assuring and considerate care. The establishment of air medical base in Shanghai will contribute to DJM's service innovation based on its two decades' of international experience and the city's medical resources to drive medical tourism growth.
