NY's Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Welcomes Girls With Wings To 'Women Fly Weekend

Event To Be Held August 22 & 23

Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome will feature "WOMEN FLY WEEKEND" on August 22 and 23 to help expand awareness among girls and young women about the fun of flying and potential for careers in aviation. There will be a post-show reception at 4:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday to facilitate discussion of opportunities with women pilots and other aviation professionals.

"To encourage participation in this enriching experience, girls 6 through 17 years of age will be admitted to the air shows on Women Fly Weekend for $5. Accompanying parents will get the group rate of $15," said Hugh Schoelzel, President of Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Air Shows.

On Sunday, Lynda Meeks, President of Girls With Wings will conduct interactive workshops, first at 10 AM for pre-teens and a second at 11:30 for older girls through age 16. Lynda has flown everything from helicopters in the military to the Citation X as a professional pilot. "Our goal is to increase self-confidence in young girls by encouraging them to realize their potential through opportunities in aviation," Lynda explained. Pre-registration is strongly recommended for the seminars.

Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome holds thrilling air shows featuring WWI and Barnstorming era airplanes at 2 PM on Saturdays and Sundays through October 18. The museum and grounds are open every day from 10 AM - 5 PM. Biplane rides over the Hudson Valley are available.

Old Rhinebeck Air Shows and Museum are 501(c)3 non-profit corporations.
