Only Days Remain For State Submissions in Aircraft Design Theme
Those kids interested in submitting their work to the National Association of State Aviation Officials art contest have less than a week before entries are closed.
NASAO has worked as a submission funnel for the International Aviation Art Contest hosted by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale. The contest is an annual event that spurs children's creativity with an aeronautical focus, often changing the themes or topics for the year's challenge. This year's art project will see kids attempt to design their own aircraft in a standard, permanent medium on an 11.75 by 16.5 inch sheet of paper.
Three age divisions exist to allow anyone ages 6 to 17 to participate. Entries will be judged state by state, so each submission must be addressed to the nearest location prior to the January 10 deadline to be included in the state level contests. Medium should be acrylic, oil paint, watercolor, indelible marker pens, felt-tip pens, soft ball-point pens, indelible ink, Crayola or any similar indelible medium. No easily smudged or rubbed methods like charcoal or pencil, nor computer-generated art will be accepted. Entries should be signed and authenticated in accordance with contest rules.
Winners for state awards will go on to the national level competition, where the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of each age group will be forwarded to the FAI. Once at the international level, gold, silver, or bronze medals are awarded. No known scholarships or prizes attend the winner's circle, the contest is traditionally low-stakes and open for fun.
