Will Be Awarded To WA High School Seniors With Aviation
Interests
In honor of the annual
Pathfinder Award given by the Museum of Flight in Seattle,
Embry-Riddle has announced the creation of a new Future Pathfinders
Scholarship for ERAU students from the state of Washington.
According to a university press release, Embry-Riddle will
initially establish five annual scholarships to high school
seniors, based on individual academic achievement and leadership
qualities. The scholarships are valued at $20,000 each, based on a
four-year academic program at $5,000 per year. Eventually, the
program is expected to grow to 20 Future Pathfinders scholarships
annually.
"Embry-Riddle is proud to endorse initiatives that will
introduce and support the goals of young men and women interested
in studying engineering, emerging technologies, and management of
new technology," said Gary Hamme, Embry-Riddle vice president of
Marketing and Enrollment Management. "The university is especially
proud to support initiatives for advancement of aviation and
aerospace."
The scholarships will be given to Washington students enrolling
in a four-year full-time undergraduate program at either of
Embry-Riddle's two locations in Prescott, AZ, or Daytona Beach, FL.
The scholarships will be renewed annually as long as the student
remains full-time, and maintains at least a 3.0 cumulative
GPA.
Scholarship selection
will be based on information submitted on a student's application,
as well as a separate scholarship application and essay. Future
Pathfinders Scholarship recipients will be recognized annually with
Museum of Flight Pathfinder honorees at the Pathfinder Awards
Gala.
Embry-Riddle will host a scholarship event November 19 at The
Museum of Flight. Interested high school seniors and their families
are invited to attend. Students will be able to submit their
admission application and scholarship application at the event.
